Wednesday: Comedy Spotlight on Doug Benson

In honor of today being April 20th, I have decided to highlight one of my favorite comedians, Mr. Doug Benson.  The last time Doug came to Maine, he was at the Gold Room and I was bummed I couldn't go.  We are trying to get him to come back so keep your eyes and ears posted and join the PortSports Comedy Fans group to give us your input on the comedians…

Winter Seasons & Year One

This Winter has been absolutely awesome so far! We have a Ski & Ride Club that is willing to venture out in a school bus up to the mountain no matter what the weather throws at us! There has been a great influx of new participants into our leagues, bringing them to another level. We have managed to play three sports at once, a first for us! Our website is growing and gaining steam with all the new groups and events being added - I am really proud of our participants (and new friends) for… __________________________Read Full Post Here________________________

PortSports Groups

Congrats to the members of the Runners Club who participated in the Turkey Trot last weekend. Our entire group finished in under 35 minutes (which is impressive, especially for those of us who just started running). We had an amazing post-run brunch at 555 and have decided to keep up through the winter.

Beer Club is going well, from the first two events we have raised $50 for the Maine MS. We are working on the next event, with more details soon, but it will be bigger and better than… __________________________Read Full Post Here________________________

80s Theme Night and Bring Your Friend (BYFTP)

PortSports' first theme night was last week, and we brought back the 80s in full force. Special thanks to the Ballbusters, Zestys and Gold Rush for their support of the theme night and Orange Crush for dressing up even though they were only field managing. I was so excited about the night, as soon as I got home from the happy hour last week, I uploaded all the photos to our website.

We are looking forward to tonight's bring your friend to play… __________________________Read Full Post Here________________________

Approaching the End of Our First Season...

Unfortunately, we our first season is coming to an end. We are in our last week of regular season games with the playoffs and championships next week. We have met some great people, received excellent feedback on how to become even better, and are planning some really cool events.

Season One is Underway!

We have officially begun our first season of sports. Kickball got off to a rough start due to rain, but after last night, we are back on track! Everyone had fun and broke out of their shells and we had a great turnout at the happy hour.

Soccer went well last week and we received some excellent feedback regarding field and ball sizing. I was surprised a little that it was so intense compared to kickball. We had one minor injury, but Dr. Luis came to the rescue and everything was… __________________________Read Full Post Here________________________

Inaugural Season!

I am really looking forward to finally getting the first season underway and it is gratifying to see the response we are getting so far. The article in the Press Herald was amazingly unexpected and a big help to getting our name out there, eventhough it also highlighted our main competition.

I am most excited to bring the charity aspect into sports leagues here in Portland. People have told me that Maine is 7 years behind New York and 3 years behind Boston, so in that vein, our… __________________________Read Full Post Here________________________
