Hello Parent's Group. We have been quiet for... well pretty much ever. Time to jumpstart this group. We are working on some fun family events for people to do with their kids. If you have any suggestions just post them here in the group. If not we have some fun ones in the works.

Anyone with kids want to plan a weekend of camping, specifically the weekend of 7/31-8/1? My 8 year old son loves to go camping but our friends who we usually go with are not going this year. Amazingly enough that is the only weekend i have him that we do not have other plans all summer.... We usually go to Sebago Lake State Park as its close, there are no mosquitos, and there are awesome bathrooms and showers, but we are open to anywhere. Any takers???

Hi everyone! I saw a very cool article in the paper yesterday about this event called "Flick and Float". On Friday they played Free Willy on the wall at Reiche pool. Kids were able to swim and play in the water while watching a fun movie. There is another one planned for this Friday ad Riverton School. It said the kids were quiet and well behaved - which you don't see often in a pool! Here is the description I found online:

Families and children of all ages can watch The Princess and the Frog while floating in the heated pool. Kids are encouraged to bring their favorite float, swimsuit, towel, and a bathing cap if hair is longer than chin length. Children under the age of seven and under four feet tall must be accompanied by an adult in the pool. Fees are $1 per child, $3 per adult and $5 per family.

I would borrow a kid to go, it sounds really fun! I had my nephew on Friday night if I had known about it I would have tried to take him. He was really sick tho :(

as wondering if any parents want to gt together and laay some baseball with the children? I have wiffle balls and bats and regular balls and bats for older children as well as a batting tee. We can play on the field in Westbrook behind the post office.

I only have my kids every other week and they might be a little old for here, they are soon to be 13 and 6, but it would be nice to get together anyway.

Shawnee Peak is having a Learn to Ski for Free day on Dec. 19. from 10:30-3:30. Apparently ski lessons are free on that day, so we may check that out. I've got to look into the details on that. I took my son Ruben skiing there last year when he was 3 and he did a pretty good job. They've got a "magic carpet" that is very little kid friendly.
