Get ready for Camping Weekend # 2!

Rangeley was a crazy weekend and Mt. Blue should be no different.

We are staying in the Mt. Blue shelter area near the base of the the mountain. It is a good 12 miles from the regular camping site so no families to worry about. This is Tent camping.

Mt Blue State Park is located in Weld Me, about 2.5 hours north of Portland.

The cost of the weekend is $15 for the whole weekend. You can pay the fee by clicking one of the 2 links in the event or by mailing a $15 check made out to PORTSPORTS LLC

So we are not staying in the actual campground we are staying at the Mount Blue Shelter. It is at the base of Mount Blue. So on a google map it is in the part of the park EAST of Webb Lake. Here is a Map to where I think it is according to the Rangers directions. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=04101&...

The Ranger said you did not need to check in with them that you can just go to the Shelter. I will be leaving at 1 so i will check everyone in.

If all else fails go to the actual campground on the West Side of the lake and check in with the Ranger. It's 20 minutes from there he said.

ALSO THERE IS NO WATER AT THIS SITE SO PLEASE BRING WATER.

Last time I also bought a ton of wood. Please plan on picking up some wood on your way to save on me paying $80 for wood. We went through 30 bundles so if everyone brings 4 bundles we should be good. Please don't assume that other people will bring wood so you don't have to.

We're hoping to hit the road around 3. We will try to find a place to buy a few bundles of wood along the way.

Well, we probably won't find any if we look in your general direction, Charlie.... ;)
Comment by Charlie Ferris on September 25, 2009 at 9:47am
yeah, if you want to spend your time looking for wood the whole weekend.

I second Corinn's comments.
Also, The map posted, is that to the camp ground/site or are there further directions from there?

Hey Dave,

How big is this group site? Is it wide open or tiny like Rangeley's "group site"? Also, how close can we park/unload? I'll probably be dark by the time I get up there so I'm just curious as to what to expect...
